Medical Records
Collecting, storing, and distributing medical records has become more and more difficult given the volume of paper and the laws governing health records. The DocuWare Integrated Document Management system has the ability to collect, store and distribute the wide variety of documents that make up the medical record. Once the documents have been stored electronically, DocuWare can bridge the gap between the current paper-based filing systems and the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems of the future by integrating the current Patient Accounting Systems with DocuWare.
Automatic document disposition is another strong suit of DocuWare. Using Export or Deletion workflows, retention schedules can be configured to automatically archive, delete or export documents from the system. Because of the many regulations that medical records managers must maintain for document retention, the automation of the archiving process can be critical. Several different disposition workflows can be set up to automatically delete, export, or archive to DVD, based on the hospital’s needs.
- Document Identification - After the records have been scanned they are identified by the Patient Account Number, Patient Name, Document Type, Date of Service and serveral others that help to identify each record.
- Deficiency Management - Once the records have been scanned and identified the StapleWare Deficiency Manager will allow the medical records staff to quickly identify which record sets are missing documents or missing signatures.
- Export for Coding - Each record set must be sent to the coders electronically so that the procedure codes can be identified and sent to the insurance companies.
- Export to Google Medical - Google Inc has unveiled a plan to help U.S. patients gain control of their medical records and is working with doctors' groups, pharmacies and labs to help them securely share sensitive health data
