The problem with the current system in most hospitals is that even though the order has a date and time stamp there is no mechanism to track this order, and all of the other verbal orders in the charts in the hospital. If we are going to track the date and time that an order is placed so that we can get an accurate measurement of which orders are signed within 48 hours and which ones have not been signed with the 48 hour limit, we need to provide a way of scanning the order because the Document Management system will capture the date, time, location and the physician who placed the order. With the new VOTOSign software module the order will be directed to the VO/TO (verbal orders/telephone orders) queue within VOTOSign. At the same time the order will appear on a status board in medical records, at the scanning location and in the pharmacy. The order then is simultaneously exported to DocuWare. DocuWare has the tools for integration to the Physician Portal, Task Lists, Email Notifications, and Patient Accounting. In addition, the order can be exported to a folder so that it can be utilized by another system in the hospital.
